Weight Watchers…UGH

June 12th, 2008 by thebigo1019-omaha

So, I haven’t been back to WW in like 2 weeks.  I changed locations so I can save some money on GAS!  So, I went to my leader Ev and told her that I’ve been going to weddings, parties, graduations, etc….in other words EATING, EATING and EATING some more.

So, I weighed in last night.  HA!  To my surprise.  Lost a whole pound!  Bringing my total to 26 lbs.  I have a lot more to go, if you ask me, but I’m just going to make tiny goals and try to stick to it.

If you are trying to lose weight…comment and we’ll share each other’s battles and successes!

Lost my 10% in Weight Watchers

May 21st, 2008 by thebigo1019-omaha

Well, I did it…last Thursday I lost my 10% weight loss goal.  In fact, it was one month to the day earlier than I planned.  Which was another bonus.  It’s been hard this last week from stuffing my face with all the graduation parties and parties in general.  I was so proud of myself and my family was too.  10% may not sound like a lot, but to those that have been on WW know what a achievement that really is with WW.

Now, I’d like to lose 10 more lbs. by the end of June…we’ll see.  If you have any ideas on recipes or weight loss ideas I’d love to hear them.  You can always email me at stone@thebigo1019.com

Son leaving for California :(

May 21st, 2008 by thebigo1019-omaha

My stepson…I call him my son, David is leaving for California to be with his birth mom for the summer.  I’m sure gonna miss the extra level of entertainment in my house.  He helps me so much with my 16 month old, his sister, Samantha.  I hope he has a good, safe trip and misses his Mom, Dad and sister, Sammi in Omaha.

Allison’s First Post

May 19th, 2008 by thebigo1019-omaha

It’s 4 in the afternoon and I just got up from a nap. Napping for me is resting at this point in time because I’m not a napper. I sure wish I was. I’m practicing napping. Hopefully, I’ll become one. I go to bed around 10 p.m. I feel like I gotta watch the news or my day isn’t really over. I’m a night owl and don’t like to get up in the morning and 4:20 a.m. is EARLY! I’m not a morning person by any means. I have to work on being upbeat and cheery in the morning. I think so far I’m doing okay. I guess Tommy would be a better judge of that. I’ll keep you posted on the napping thing.

It’s is awesome to be back in Omaha and on the air with Tommy. I finally feel settled which helps me to be happy. I have my new digs. I’m moved in and most of my things are put away. It’s good enough that I can have a few people over.

So I’ve got my new digs, my new 2008 Ford Focus from Atchley Ford and all my spa care is being taken care of by Garbo’s. That’ll make any girl happy, well, if you’re a girly girl like me.

I’m very happy to be back in Omaha. And the weather has been fabulous. Feel free to e-mail me any time, allison@thebigo1019.com.

Thanks for being so kind to Tommy and I and can’t wait to meet our Big O listeners!

By the way, Shari looks great!

Weight loss & staying healthy

May 13th, 2008 by thebigo1019-omaha

Well, I finally got to my 20.2 lb mark.  Man it feels so good, too.  Weight Watchers really does work…when you put your mind to it. :)  I feel really good and don’t feel so sluggish like I did 20 lbs. ago.

I’m really starting to realize how important being healthy really is to me.  My dad just got out of the hospital today from a possible stroke.  Stroke is in my father’s side of the family and heart attack/failure is on my mom’s side of the family.  So either way…I’m doomed.

My dad is like 170lbs. and 6ft. tall and is a farmer…works constantly and is in peak shape and yet this happened to him.  We had a big scare in our family and I’m SO happy to report that my dad survived this and is doing better.

So, my dedication to him is to start to exercise regulary and eat good foods for me and my family.  Your health is SO important!

Mother’s Day

May 7th, 2008 by thebigo1019-omaha

Here’s a question for you, espcecially if your kids are old enough shop alone.  Is it proper (expected) to buy a Mother’s Day gift for your wife?  I have heard both arguments…

1. No - She’s not MY mother.

2. Yes - She’s the mother of YOUR children.

Personally, I usually try to go with #2, first because I think she deserves something on this day.  And 2nd….rule 3…If Momma ain’t happy…nobody’s happy!

What do you say…hit the comments and let me know.

NO Left On Dodge - or is there?

May 7th, 2008 by thebigo1019-omaha

We see this all the time here at the station (since our studio window fronts Dodge)..a car stops to make a left turn into a business or parking lot and a line of cars develops behind it.  Then, the inevitable horn beeping starts, which is usually accompanied by several unflattering hand gestures.

Now as I understand the rule, this is a perfectly LEGAL move.  It is ILLEGAL to make a left at an intersection onto a side street, but it IS legal to turn into a business or residence along Dodge.

I have searched the internet, but have never been able to find this in black and white.  Am I wrong?  Billy Shears The Big O 1019

Bumper Cars

May 1st, 2008 by thebigo1019-omaha

So, my son backed one of the cars into a pole.  Not a lot of damage, but a crease in the bumper.  Decisions, decisions.

Call the insurance company?  10 year old car, not a really bad accident…no one injured (not even the pole!) - Nah.

Remember I said I was “frugal” (cheap, according to wife)?  Well I found the part on- line, reasonably priced…DIY? What the heck…this ought to be fun.

I’ve never done a lot of body work.  When I was young, I did the standard tune-ups, oil changes, etc.  I told my son that if I need any new tools (like a pneumatic impact wrench –which I’ve always wanted)…he’s buying them. (I’ll probably need one of those…I hope!)

We’ll see.  It will either be fine, or I’ll end up getting someone to repair my repair.

We’ll keep you posted.  Billy Shears, The Big o 1019

What kind of lotion do you use?

April 30th, 2008 by thebigo1019-omaha

I use nothing but CUREL.  I know it’s pricy, but it’s the ONLY lotion out there that doesn’t feel greasy…to me.  I’m very picky about my lotion…just ask my friends or my former room mate Tammy…or my husband.  I have a bottle of it in EVERY room in our house…yes…even the bathroom.  I’m addicted.  There I’ve said it…I’m Shari Stone and I’m a lotion-holic. :)

Another thing that I’m VERY picky about is body wash.  Seriously, I spent probably a good 1/2 hour of my life…which I’ll NEVER get back…smelling body washes.  I was in the Hy-Vee body wash isle off of 50th & Center and do you think I could find a good body wash?  NO…so I settled with Dove body wash.  It’s okay…but nothing that I’d rave about.  However, I do love the moisturized feeling when I get out of the shower.

Mother’s Day is coming up….

April 29th, 2008 by thebigo1019-omaha

What do you get for a mom that has EVERYTHING?  I love my mom SOOO much, but she has everything and I’m trying to find the perfect gift for her…as always.  Do you think a gift certificate to her favorite store would be tacky?
