Storm of June 2008

Monday, June 30th, 2008

WOW!

I think that is the best way I could start this blog. I can honestly say that I have never personally seen so much widespread damage from a what looked like on radar a small storm. Boy, did that small storm pack a huge punch! I was in studio here at 50th and Dodge watching it slam Omaha with unexpected force. Since we are at the bottom of the hill, we saw a lot wash down the street. I was telling my friends that it looked like ice glaciers were floating down the street, since it hailed so much.

We lost power at our home just for a few moments, in fact the only reason we knew it was out, was from our trusty electronic clocks that were blinking when we got home.

How was your life affected by the storm?

CWS-Fresno State National Champs

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

First of all, Congrats to Fresno State. They made the Road to Omaha an even more special story. I am excited that Omaha will always be tied to this Championship.

I only had a chance to make it to one CWS game this year, it was the elimination game between Fresno St. and NC. It was a special experience for me since my 11 year old nephew was able to go to the game, he is from Arkansas. It was fun hearing him get on his cell phone right away calling all of his friends in Arkansas, and telling them that he got to go to a CWS game. I also had the chance to spend time with my father, he drove up from Lincoln. I figured I would take him to a game, since he took me to Pro Baseball games when I was growing up (some of the greatest memories).

I was suprised to see that so many seats were open at the game, even more, we got tickets below face value. Other than the rain delay, the weather was absolutely perfect compared to the past few years.

What is your take on the reason seats were NOT filled? Ticket prices? Game times? Gas?

CWS

I haven’t had one desire in my bones to watch one single game of the CWS.  I don’t know if it’s because I’ve lost interest in it due to the new stadium being built or what…

But I don’t know…maybe it’s just me…but do you think that the attendance is a little lower than in years past?  Tell me what you think.

Weight Loss update

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Well, went to WW last Thursday night and I lost another 2.2 lbs.  Bringing the total to 28.2.  Man, it’s so nice to feel good during the summer instead of miserable. :)  Hopefully if you are going through the big weight loss you take each day at a time…and if you have to have that no-no do it…then get back on track! :)

Weight Watchers…UGH

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

So, I haven’t been back to WW in like 2 weeks.  I changed locations so I can save some money on GAS!  So, I went to my leader Ev and told her that I’ve been going to weddings, parties, graduations, etc….in other words EATING, EATING and EATING some more.

So, I weighed in last night.  HA!  To my surprise.  Lost a whole pound!  Bringing my total to 26 lbs.  I have a lot more to go, if you ask me, but I’m just going to make tiny goals and try to stick to it.

If you are trying to lose weight…comment and we’ll share each other’s battles and successes!
