What kind of lotion do you use?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

I use nothing but CUREL.  I know it’s pricy, but it’s the ONLY lotion out there that doesn’t feel greasy…to me.  I’m very picky about my lotion…just ask my friends or my former room mate Tammy…or my husband.  I have a bottle of it in EVERY room in our house…yes…even the bathroom.  I’m addicted.  There I’ve said it…I’m Shari Stone and I’m a lotion-holic. :)

Another thing that I’m VERY picky about is body wash.  Seriously, I spent probably a good 1/2 hour of my life…which I’ll NEVER get back…smelling body washes.  I was in the Hy-Vee body wash isle off of 50th & Center and do you think I could find a good body wash?  NO…so I settled with Dove body wash.  It’s okay…but nothing that I’d rave about.  However, I do love the moisturized feeling when I get out of the shower.

Mother’s Day is coming up….

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

What do you get for a mom that has EVERYTHING?  I love my mom SOOO much, but she has everything and I’m trying to find the perfect gift for her…as always.  Do you think a gift certificate to her favorite store would be tacky?

Parenting can be a struggle…

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Today, my son, David went to Fontenelle Forrest for a Field Trip.  Now, before he left the house this a.m. I told him to be on his best behavior.  I told him that he may have a parent in his group that has to watch him.  I wanted him to be a good boy so I didn’t have to hear a parent bad mouthing my child or the teacher giving me a bad report.

So, I figured I covered my bases by telling him that we have an expectation level for him to achieve today.

YOU GUESSED IT…got this email from his teacher…

David did have some trouble on the field trip being respectful.  He was not in my group, but from the adult leader of his group I was informed he had trouble listening and being quiet.  He was originally suppose to be with me, but there was a bit of confusion when we split up groups and he was placed in another group.  He was very upset on the bus ride home.

UGH!  I knew it…I just knew it!  I knew that since I had a feeling in my gut that he was going to be bad…he was.  NOW WHAT!?

So…needless to say…he’s in BIG trouble….going to be spending his evenings in the ‘prison’…his little sisters room! LOL

Do You Use a GPS?

Monday, April 28th, 2008

In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned my GPS.  If you travel a bit, I have to say they are extremely helpful.  I have a Tom-Tom One, but no matter what brand you use, I think they are great.  I will admit that I originally got it, cause at times I can be a little geekish.  (You know…only difference between men and boys and all that.)

My wife and I camp quite a bit and we’ll take the camper to some places we have never been and thought it would come in handy.   On my wife’s recent trip to Pennsylvania she took Mandy (that’s the GPS name - more on that in a minute) and it really helped get her where she needed to go.  She flew into Philadelphia and rented a car.  Her family lives in Lancaster, PA - about 90 minutes away and, since we haven’t lived in that area in years, it’s easy to forget your way around.

Mandy, guided her from the airport to home and around different areas of Lancaster and York Counties.  If you can spare $100 - 200 bucks from your tax rebate/refund, I would definitely recommend a GPS.  We even find it useful around the Omaha area when you’re going to a part of town that you’re not familiar.

Oh, about “Mandy”…that actually is the name associated with the voice that comes with the GPS, so that’ show we refer to the unit.  There are several voices that you can choose, but we started with Mandy and are sticking with her.  On some units you can even download different voices.  Silly, maybe, but kinda cool…just like ringtones.

Roy Ellis…continued

Friday, April 25th, 2008

I just watched a little TV and saw this man strut himself through the flood of media coverage.  he really think his crap doesn’t stink and that he didn’t kill this girl.  UGH!  I just hate it that this man was able to sleep knowing what he did….while Amber’s parents spent endless days, months, years worrying about their precious daughter.

It disgusts me that there are people out there that could do something like this to a fellow human being….and a CHILD.

Roy Ellis….GUILTY of First Degree Murder

Friday, April 25th, 2008

What a relief…as a parent and a woman…to have this predator off the streets.  Roy Ellis has been found GUILTY of First Degree Murder of little, beautiful Amber Harris.  It breaks my heart, as a parent, that Amber’s parents will never see their beautiful daughter grow up…get married…have children…have a LIFE.

This man took her life and now the jury will decide whether or not he lives…too bad Amber didn’t get that choice….cause I know she would have wanted to live.

Starr Jones divorcing her husband? Say it isn’t so…

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Who the hell didn’t know that this wasn’t going to happen.  I’ll tell you one thing…if I were one of those businesses that gave her a dress or flowers…I’d be suing her for putting my shop in a bad lime light.

I mean really?  Can we talk…or is that Joan Rivers talking? :)  Who out there didn’t think her husband was gay?  Or was it just me?  I knew this wasn’t going to last…you could just tell.

In this day and age marriage is looked upon as a joke.  That’s what I feel.  You spend all this time preparing for a wedding….when you should be preparing for the MARRIAGE!  My husband, Dave and I have only been married for 4 short years and together for almost 7…we are still in the honeymoon stage…some say.  We work at our marriage.  We communicate…whether that’s good or not is to be determined (LOL!).  But we take our marriage very seriously.

We recently gained full custody of my stepson, David back in October of 2006.  Then 3 months later we had our daughter, Samantha.  Talk about a strain on a marriage.  Going from no kids to two in 3 months…it was a learning curve and still is to this day.  BUT…we got through it with love and support and respecting each others feelings.

So, if you’re going through some hard times with your spouse just remember to listen to what they are saying…and respect them.

Much love,

Weight Watchers weigh-in tonight

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

I have WW tonight.  Why is it that I dread stepping on that scale every week?  It’s such a struggle at times.  I want to look good, feel good, and be around for my kids…but man, I LOVE food.

It’s so sick…we need food to survive.  It’s twisted and yet I have something that I always abuse…FOOD.  I don’t know when to say when…I’m learning though…through WW.  I’m hoping the scale is down this week.
